Austin residence

During a three year process from sketch to brick and mortar, Bruce along with his husband, Fred and the help of Clayton and Little design firm, designed and transformed a 1600 sq. ft. 2/1 Texas cottage into a 3200 sq. ft., historical site showplace. In keeping with the Texas cottage 1920’s design created a detailed 3/3 home. Shrouded in “squid ink black”, the house started a trend of “black painted” homes in the immediate neighborhood. The results are in the pictures. Blending the 1900’s construction into the modern century of the Travis Heights neighborhood.

Los Angeles pied-à terre

An 850 sq. ft. tree level loft located in the Higgins Building overlooking Cathedral of Saint Vibiana. Completed in 1910, Higgins, then the tallest building in DTLA at 10 stories, is a stunning example of Beaux-Arts style architecture both listed in the National Register of Historic Places and designated a Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument. In good company, neighboring Historic Core architectural masterpieces include Caltrans HQ, LA Times building, and City Hall. In the loft, 12’ ceilings and original oversized zinc-lined double hung windows open the studio into a gracious suite of natural light filled comfort and practicality. Blanketed walls and ceiling of flat deep midnight blue play with the high gloss tawny orange custom cabinetry and soapstone countertops. A soft touch of Hollywood Regency is reflected in the floor to ceiling blue drapery and white oak chevroned parquet floors. The meticulous, loving renovation and restoration over 14 months resulted in equal parts luxury form and function.
